Editorial standards & advertising

Who writes FenceCalc, how AI assistance is used, how prices and standards are checked and how advertising is kept separate from the calculator’s answers.

Who runs this site

FenceCalc is an independent reference tool. We are not a fencing contractor, a material supplier or a lead-generation site, and we earn no commission when you buy through the calculator. No supplier can pay to appear in the results, the country notes or the article list.

How articles are produced

Articles are written in-house against a fixed checklist: one concrete question, the dimensions and units that answer it, a worked example you can re-calculate, and a link back to the calculator. AI tools help draft and translate text; a person edits every piece, checks the numbers and approves it before publication.

How prices and standards are verified

Panel widths, post spacings, hole sizes and bag yields are checked against at least two supplier catalogues per region and against the local standard named in the country notes. Retail prices are conservative mid-range figures that you can edit. When sources disagree we publish the higher quantity, so the estimate errs towards enough material rather than too little.

Advertising

The site is free because of advertising, mainly Google AdSense. Every ad slot is labelled “Advertisement”, and ads never appear inside the calculator form or the results card. Advertisers have no influence on the formulas, the prices or the articles we choose to write, and we do not accept payment for reviews or rankings. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings; the privacy policy explains the cookies involved.

Corrections

If a price, dimension or standard looks wrong, send the country, the item and the source you are comparing against through the contact page. We verify the report, publish the correction and update the date shown at the top of the page. Substantive corrections are made within five working days.

Independence and future partnerships

There are no affiliate agreements, sponsored articles or paid links on FenceCalc today. If that ever changes, the disclosure will appear above the affected content and before any link, and it will not alter the calculator’s output. Sponsored material will never be presented as editorial advice.

Contact the editors

Questions about how a page was written, or a correction to send, go to the address on the contact page; we usually reply within two working days. We cannot give construction, legal or safety advice for a specific project — for that, speak to a local builder or your council.
